And it's time to continue our journey, meeting fans from all around globe. Today we have a fairly new member featured here, part of the online Star Trek community, Sean from Trek on the Tube. He started his youtube channel a wfew months ago, but his content is different than other channels. He talk to newcomers and old timers at the same time with a brilliant approach. We sat down to talk with him...
What is your first memory about Star Trek? How long have you been a fan of the show?
I guess I never really became a fan, I just grew up one. Star Trek has been present throughout my entire life. And I've always loved it.
How has your life changed since you discovered Star Trek?
Hard to answer that... I mean it would seem that in my case Star Trek didn't change me, it helped mold me since the very beginning.
Favorite series, movie, episode, captain, villain?
Any memorable encounter with a Star Trek actor/actress you met?
Sadly I haven't had the opportunity to meet anyone yet.
What made you make videos on YouTube?
The times I suppose. We live in an era where things like Star Trek, Star Wars, Harry Potter or Lord Of The Rings have become mainstream. More and more people are becoming fans and the ones who know nothing rely on the ones that have been reading and / or watching this content for years. What made me start making video ? Well, I came to realize there were no easy access entry point channels for new fans. Most of the content was just Trekkie to Trekkie. And so I created Trek on the Tube.
As a YouTuber which of your videos are you the most proud of?
My latest. I mean I just started my channel and I only have 6 videos released as I answer these questions (including the channel trailer). So I'm pretty confident every new video I make for a little while will inevitably be better than the last.
Which part of your Star Trek collection are you the most proud of?
Considering I have no Trek memorabilia of great value I can't really say I'm proud of anything. But my "Command Shirt" Cushion holds a special place in my heart. Other than it looking awesome it was a present from my wife. And that just makes it all the more special.
Any dream collectible on your list?
I would love to have Data's head... I mean... Is that weird?
Apart from Star Trek which other sci-fi shows that you like?
The Expanse. Which has very quickly become one of my favorite series of all. But I also enjoy Babylon 5, Westworld, Firefly, Duck Dodgers and the genius creation that is Rick And Morty.
And a tricky one for the end... what does Star Trek mean to you?
Inspiration. It inspires people to become astronauts. It inspires people to become engineers and create new technology. But most of all, it seems to inspire people to help each other.
I would like to extend my thank you to Sean for this interview. If you haven't yet, please go over to his channel on YouTube and subscribe! Also please have a regular check on the website as new interviews are coming every week. :) _\\//
