The excitement that I had this week it was just WOW. We are very close to the point when we will have get some fine details from the upcoming Star Trek series, Discovery. We got some official prop promo videos from the phaser, tricorder, and the communicator. I'm quite impressed with these little bits now. Without going into too much detail that everybody already has been talking about, here's my little thoughts about the subject.
The Torchbearer - aka The Klingon Battle Suit
Bath'let or Not?
I think so far, apart from the new of thew Klingon, I really love the original series and design for those weapon. As I've mentioned before, the NEW Klingon are quite strange, ancient look alike. But hey... we know almost nothing about the Klingons in Discovery. For more details please check out the Trekmovie.com on the Klingon uniforms by clicking the picture below.
All these little bits dropped over this week. Everyone who's attending SDCC17 this weekend, has a privileged position to get to know more about Star Trek Discovery. I really enjoy seeing all the bits from social media that literally exploded ever since. In the 22nd there will be a big Discovery panel in the convention, where the cast and crew will talk about the series... and I do hope a second trailer pretty soon. :) Will be checking the web for more news and Discovery pieces.

I've been a bit quiet recently about Star Trek Discovery. Well, there's a few reason for that. Mainly because I haven't got the time to do some analysis and theory-crafting, but today is the day when I do! So welcome to the "Theoritical Zone" ladies and gents, and other life forms. :)
While now we have a release date over the series and we are getting some bits and pieces from various sources, I've been thinking about the Klingons and actually I come up with an idea about them. They surely look different than we got to see them in various incarnations of Trek, and that's ok. We are talking about a certain evolution here. Obviously back in the 60's the Klingons looked normal humans with some makeup and a weird mustache/beard combo. They were a bit scary but still lovable characters, unlike the Tellarites or Tholians. We didn't really get to see them that much in the course of the series, but they certainly got through some design changes. Later in season 3 they've got a darker skin tone and a bit more aggressive look.
The big chance was obviously the Motion Picture when we got to see them in a new design. Well, they were different. I remember the first time when I saw them about 20 years ago when I was 11, they looked just fine to me. I wasn't really familiar with the series back than, so all I had is was just the movie look. Later obviously with TNG and DS9 I've got to know more about them and the picture about the race became more clear. The look on those Klingons stayed exactly as they were before, they carried the Motion Picture look over the 50 years of Trek.
When we got to see them again in Enterprise that was a bit shocking at the first time. Why they look like the Klingons from the later era? Well, that has been explained for us in a really clever way, combining the story with the Khan and his crew. So the genetic mutation effected all the Klingons and they became more human look a like.
What's Up With Discovery Then?
Well, I've been reading a lot of comments recently on the latest little information that Trekcore published. The picture they released about Mary Chieffo's Klingon look, made me think about the evolution of the Klingons. They look totally different than they looked before and as many of us stated in many way, they are more like a prequel species of the Kelvin Klingons. I mean, who would argue with that?
Many of us had an idea of these guy, as they might come from the past, as an ancient Klingon race. The sarcophagus ship and the creepy look indicated that they are really coming from an old era. But what if they are from the future? What if those Klingons are the distant cousins of the Klingons we know and they playing with the temporal timeline? What if a really big disaster happens in the distant future that causes of the extinction of the race and they as survivors came back in time to prevent the future happening. Maybe the Federation did something that happened to be fatal to them? Or maybe they are just randomly travelled back in time in order to do a sacred mission?
Despite from the theoretical part, the moment that made me think about the "future Klingons" is their head. Their head got a more conical shape from their back. Now as we humans evolved from our ape predecessors than we can simply assume the Klingons gone through some pretty amazing changes too. We all remember that "proto-klingon" that Worf transformed to in TNG, right? So maybe this is just part of the evolution that we are just about to witness in Discovery? Or I'm just making a story up based on what we know and what could be? I'm sure the creative team has a pretty clever way to explain why they look how they are, and why the show looks more like another JJ movie. It's a lot in the table already for them and I hope they will get it right. They have to...
This was my little rambling about the topic. Please let me know in the comment section below what do you think of the NEW Klingon outlook in Discovery? Are they from the past? From the future? Let us know. :)
Airdate and mid-season break
Captain on the Bridge
Beam Me Up or Shoot Me Down?
I have to admit I was raising my "Spock-brows" on the transporter picture. That was something I was like... what the heck is this? Seriously the new transporter room looks kinda distant that we saw before in Star Trek. Those spinning circles behind them, that equipped with an emitter in the middle looks a tiny bit strange to me. Seems like that transporter work in a vertical way... so you might end up being hit by the trasporter beam and you will just simply disintegrate. Kind of scary... although we didn't see that in action just yet. I still have to remind myself about the Shenzhou as she's an old ship compare to Discovery, so technology can be different than what we used to. Although one thing is sure, they used "classic" transporter pads in Enterprise... and at this moment that's the only stable point between the Prime Timeline, the Kelvin Timeline and now also Discovery. Looking forward to see more of the sets prior he series.
Something sill missing.
Well, the end of my little brainstorming session I came to one conclusion from all these bits that we've got from Discovery: it's just different. Apart from the Star Trek com badge and the look of the phasers it still doesn't feel like Star Trek to me. It's been interesting how the previous series built up and they tried to follow each other, but with Discovery I'm getting a sort of "let's make this ours" feeling. It seems like CBS really just want to make a ton of money out the franchise in the most appealing way to everyone. I've read a lot of comments on my channel regarding to Discovery and a lot said the same thing at the end as "Dicovery made by people who wants money!" With all due respect on the cast and the crew that I believe they did their job 110% to make the show great. I just have the feeling CBS see the franschise through the eyes of profit, not a story to tell. Don't get me wrong, I'm not writing the series off just yet... I'm really far from that. As I always said I'll give the show a chance, but I have my Spock-brow raised at the moment.
What do you think about Discovery so far? Are you looking forward to it? Do you think it will be great or it will fall? Let me know in the comment section below.
Well than, after all those months and a long wait, the first trailer REAL for Star Trek Discovery has arrived. I had to watch it a few times to get everything out from it, but so far I have a "I don't know about this" feeling. it's a tiny bit interesting as I had a similar feeling about the first Kelvin movie too. A new movie about a classic Star Trek. Well, this trailer looks cool. The visuals are much better than the the comic con trailer back than, athough it feels more like a Battlestar Galactica for me at this point. It's a totally fresh show and a totally different aspect of Star Trek.
As they stated initially, the first officer will have an issue with the central command that had a little hint in the trailer and yes, Michael will be the centre point of this adventure. The make up is amazing in this trailer, the uniforms are more like a crossover between the Enterprise and the Kelvin universe. The ship looked amazing, although visually I wasn't really excited about that as Axanar, or other fan projects had similar cgi ships.
Kelvin, Kelvin... Is That You?
The Klingons finally revealed in their "glory" and they look acceptable... for a Kelvin movie. I think the problem is with them, as they supposed to be in the prime timeline and they look like they came from the Kelvin universe... it just doesn't fit. I know I might sounds like a bit of a downer now, but somehow I didn't get the "hype" out of this trailer. It looks serious, different and a tiny bit dark... maybe I just have to wait till the dust will settle around my feelings about this and see how will feel about it.
At this point I'm not really excited. Frankly I'm much hyped about The Orville than Discovery. That has a really good feel, unlike Discovery that has nothing to do with the Prime Timeline that the show suppossed to be. I will release a youtube review about this trailer when I will discuss the details a bit more in depth.... maybe I'll have a much more positive feeling about it after.
Before I go into the latest news analysis I have to apologise to my faithful followers here. I've been fairly busy sorting out things in my personal life and I've kind of neglected teh website. I know this is a pure hobby for me, but I feel responsible for this. Trekkerprise.com is a big achievement for me and it's the proud of my life, a channel where I can communicate my feeling about everything Star Trek and other geekiness that I feel passionate about. So I'm glad that previous chapter in my life is over now and I'm finally back here, where I belong. :)
"You have the bridge Number 1!"
Well, as I always state this in every Discovery discussion video on my youtube channel and here in teh website, I'm really looking forward to informations about the series itself. What will be the story? How those klingos will fit? What's up with Captain Lorca? These things interest me more at the moment... hopefully we will get some news on this from CBS. :) _\\//
Looks like our crew is coming together for the new Star Trek series, Discovery. Two ship so far; the Shenzou and the Discovery, will certainly have a role in the show - at least that's we know so far. We also have Klingons (?), Vulcans (Sarek) and other species. Lt Saru (played by Doug Jones) will represent a new alien race that we have never seen before, but what about Captain Lorca?
It has become quite clear now, Discovery will be a new and different show compare to the "core Trek" that we all love. So having an alien captain on the centre seat I believe is totally possible. We haven't got any information on the character yet, or what his role will be in the series, apart from him being a captain of the ship.
I wonder how many of youhave had the same idea about the new captain? Please let me know in the comment section below. Also, don't forget to checkout my YouTube channel for all the Star Trek Geekiness. :) _\\//
It's been a while since we had any news from CBS - apart from the casting news on Jason Isaac as Captain Lorca, the commanding officer of the Discovery which I will have a little article published soon - regarding the production of Star Trek Discovery. The anticipation towards the series is bigger than ever, with every fan theorizing about the show, about the ship and about the possibility of the new Klingon race too. The last few weeks I have had a little time to think about the news and the rumours and I thought I share these thoughts.
Klingons? Holy Sto'vo'kor!
Discovery and the Shenzou!
Since the test footage from the San Diego Comic Con we haven’t seen anything new about the "flagship" USS Discovery, nor from the other ship, the Shenzou. Well, the latest teaser trailer from CBS had a few shots over the Discovery and the other ship that still looks a bit distant from the era. Thos nacelles and the look of the ship just doesn't match the era of TOS. The design of the Discovery hasn’t really change much and personally I prefer that way. It was a design that they made back then, then was neglected, but certainly, it is a cool looking ship. I have to admit, at the beginning I had little reason to like it, but the more I have looked at it, it has begun to grow on me. Now, seeing it in the production trailer, Iam happy to see the ship. The other ship, that everyone thinks is the Shenzou... well, we will have to wait for more news on that I'm afraid.
As always, I think it's going to be a long wait until we will get to see the first episode. I'm sure this new series will have a connection with the "original" franchise, but it will have a different ending. There's a special feeling that comes with Star Trek and that is difficult to achieve. Even with Star Trek Beyond (which I consider so far to be the best of the Kelvin movies), it's hard to say that it’ll finallybe something that we will all love. I’ve always said that I had hoped for Discovery and this statement is still valid. I'm going to watch the series with an open mind, but for me Star Trek always will be that 5 live-action and 1 cartoon series! As long as they are there for us, I'm not even worried about Discovery! :)
BREAKING NEWS everybody! It's just been a few hour since they announced Jason Isaac as the Captain Lorca, the commanding officer of the USS Discovery. Jason is well known for Harry Potter fans as he played Lucius Malfoy. Personally I don't really know his work, but now he will get more attention from everyone that's for sure. As a captain of the Discovery he will follow the footsteps of Shatner, Stewart, Brooks, Mulgrew and Bakula. Although as a captain he will command the Discovery his role I don't think will be as significant as Sonequa's! She has been cast as the main character and from previous informations as I believe she will be the focus of the show.
Personally I hope this months we will get more news regarding the story itself, because personally I'm more curious about that now. We still talking about a Star Trek series that will be placed in the Prime Timeline and certainly a few things to mention here and there that raised my eyebrows... although I'm keeping my faith and hope for the new series. I'm not sure if I will make any video regarding this cast announcement on the channel, but make sure you subscribe and check out the Discovery segment, well as the other Star Trek related videos. I'll keep my eyes open, so if there's any news related to Discovery it will be here. _\\//
Finally, what do you think about this announcement? Please let me know in the comment section below.
Just about an hour ago there's been a picture around the internet that someone posted on social media. The person possibly working on the set of Star Trek Discovery and he took a big risk (and possibly his opportunity to be in the show in the future has gone now) posting a group of people as the new Klingons. Now hang on a second and look at that picture....
First of all (and I hate to say this) I was right about those uniforms that we saw in the trailer... they were Klingons. Second of all, my excitement now gone a little bit, because they look really creepy now. It's prime universe and that look is just nothing to do with the Klingons from the Kirk era. I think something really fishy going on here... but surely my excitement now started to decrease, not liek in the last video that I've made about the teaser trailer:
What do you think about this leaked picture? What do you think about the looks of these Klingons? Let me know in the comment section below. _\\//
This morning there was an official announcement about a new Star Trek Discovery logo that CBS just thrown out to the public, but in the afternoon something incredible happened: they dropped a video teaser as well. At the beginning I thought it's just an other "here's something" teaser that will tell us nothing. On the contrary... we got a fantastic teaser full with bits and pieces. Amazingly hinted uniforms, set photos and more. I've done a quick video catch up on the subject, but I'm working on a longer review for the weekend, so stick around. :)
This is certainly a good news and I'm super excited about the news as this is something now. The level of excitement that I experienced over watching the teaser is something amazing. I can't wait to see and read more about the production and share all of the details with you guys.
