![]() If you ask me about 6 month earlier "What's my opinion about the new StarTrek movie?" I could have say something like "I don't want to talk about it!" or "...that's not Star Trek!" But now I have to say I've changed my mind about the whole concept. I didn't really like first movie after watching it the second time. The ship looked amazing, I always thought the cast was a brilliant choice, but something didn't really fit. Was a strange iching feeling when you know there's somehing but you don't know how to describe... So the first movie was a sort of "ok". I really liked the explanation about the "alternate universe" or as CBS recently stated the "Kelvin Timeline", the appearance of Spock and the extended story of Captain Pike which we didn't really see in the original series. The second movie... well, many of us still believe as Into Darkness was a cheap rip-off the second classic movie Wrath of Khan. With all due respect for Benedict Cumberbatch, who delivers a brilliant Sherlock Holmes and many other character he wasn't the KHAN we knew. You just can't replace the iconic Ricardo Montalban, just can't! He was an elegant, dinamic character but the guy in the new movie was a cold killer. And the Spock crying "KHAAAN!" was just way to off for me. Into Darkness just didn't fit, it was even voted the worst Star Trek movie ever pushing Final Frontier down on that list as for a long time it had no competitor in that scale (I do liked it tho). But let's see Beyond, the 3rd movie. When the 1st trailer came out last december the whole Trekkie nation was screaming about again as it just happened to be another overactioned, overthought movie... well I didn't really want to believe it's going to appeal for a different sort of Trekkie tribe, but after reading the interview with Simon Pegg I gave the whole franchise another go. I thought, let's just wait and maybe there's something happens after all. And it did, the second trailer was a brilliant one, gave us a good insight what the movie plot possibly be. I started to dig myself in a bit deeper the new franchise as I said just give an other chance to the whole thing. I finally started to understand what's going on... a new idea about what could have happened. I've found asking myself: "What's the meaning of Star Trek?" Then it hit me, what was there all the time: infinite diversity in infinite combinations! That's it, finally this made me accept the new movies as a part of the Star Trek family. I'm soo looking forward to see what's gonna happen in this new movie. It will be very sad in one way as we all know about the recent passing of Anton Yelchin who played the character of Chekov. Over all I believe this 3rd movie will make a big mark this year and hopefully it will be the beginning of a new era. LLAP! _\\//
