Life is simply not fair... specially this year when we all had our fair share of troubles and difficulties and on top of everything we have lost a few very good people in the Star Trek community. Lately the passing of Aron Eisenberg shook us all, and now our beloved Rene Auberjonois has gone. This is just a news that I cannot simply process. It's a very strange feeling as personally I've never had the chance to meet him, but watching him playing that fantastic character on screen and having a little bit of interaction through social media gave me that extra touch of his presence. He was a great person who let us in to his life through his art, his pictures and never the less the performances that we were fortunate to witness, specially the one as Odo from Deep Space Nine.
I cannot help, but think of his character and all those wonderful episodes that was full of heart, soul, mystery and even laughter. We've seen Odo falling in love with Kira, getting childishly harassed by Lwaxana Troi, playing baseball in the holodeck and having all of those wonderful moments that we tearfully laughed at when he was on screen with Quark. Soo many good memories of his character and of course for many soo many great memories of him as a person, an artist, father and a granddad. Words cannot comprehend his loss and life will be difficult without him for a while. :'(
Being a Star Trek fan isn't just about loving the show, it's about having an extended family. For some of us long time Trekkies, a loss of an actor is more than only the loss of an actor... for us it's losing a member of our own family we deeply care about. My condolences with Rene's family, close friends and of course his extended family in this difficult time. Rest In Peace good Sir, in the Great Link. _\\//
