Such a title, I know, but to be honest that's exactly what I wanted to write about. :) If you know me I try to do my best to create videos for my channel. Reviews, Character Datafiles and other topics that connects with Star Trek, Doctor Who and with the Orville. Now, I had a few ideas to make a live stream possible and work in my channel as well every now and then, but my very first attempt was simply, well... it failed. The place where we live in England, Somerset is beautiful. Nature is so close, the air is fresher than it was in the big smoky London, the life/work balance is relaxing... but the internet connection is terrible. The whole city has the most basic internet connection in sky-high prices. I guess there's always a downside to everything, right? Well, I guess I would have thought this through before hand as generally speaking uploading one of my video takes about an hour and half, and I want to do a live stream? Who am I kidding with? :D I would love to do this in the future, it would be awesome to have a live discussion about something that we can all join in and analyse. Will see how things will go, but I hope to do something similar or different in the future.
The Future of Reviews
As The Orville and Discovery is still in the air I'm mainly focusing on these videos. Even though as I mentioned I have a better life/work balance I still feel that creating these reviews is a responsible task. I don't want to screw them up or anything. In a few weeks however I won't be able to do it for 2-3 weeks in the classic manner as I'm currently doing this, hence as I have some upcoming travelling. I will probably have more information about the format once we are closer to the time, but until than... I hope you'll enjoy what I have to say about the episodes we are all so excited about. :)
What a pitty! :( No more After Trek... Well, don't feel sorry, there's gonna be a "facebook live feed" instead. Phew, what a relief. :) Ok, let's be serious for s minute here, I've never been a big fan of After Trek. I do like extra content when it comes to Star Trek. I can watch documentaries all over the place and for days about our favourite show, but After Trek always felt like an excuse to me. They knew that they will have to apologise and explain why things happened or what is that they want to do with it here and there... now that is not coming back I'm not sad at all. Although I hope that the facebook live feed will be available for worldwide audiences to enjoy, _\\//

You know how you open you your computer, you check your internet browser, gmail and YouTube... and that recommendations are coming in your feed which video to watch? Now when I've seen this I was like "this is nor real." The classic soundtrack, the barn, proton pack light effects and the the good old rusty Ecto-1? What is happening? :D Well, the beauty of this quick 50 second video that is indeed real, Ghostbusters are happening in 2020 for one more time. :) Apparently the son of Ivan Reitman, Jason is working on a super secret and full of surprises big new Ghostbusters movie that will catch up on the original movies from the 80's. Now that's a super amazing thing to be excited about. :) I know that is technically a project that is really in a development phase right now, but the news on it's own it's fantastic. :) I cannot wait to get to know more about this new Ghostbusters instalment to the original franchise. So far as I mentioned we nothing about the story, but as it turned out Ernie Hudson who played Zeddmore confirmed that all previous actor will return to this movie which is a great guarantee that we gonna see some seriously good production, not to mention that a separate new Animated movie will be released a little after the live-action movie aired, which is also awesome. :) What do you think about this awesome news? I'm eager to find out your take on this short trailer. :) _\\//
After my horrible experience with Twitter last time I decided not to make further movements with that platform for a while. Getting all that spoilers, news and conversation is just very overwhelming. When the first season of Star Trek Discovery aired I was excited, but towards the premier a lot of new things been announced. As part of the community I do feel some responsibility to react and share my opinion, start a conversation between people, but sometimes it's just too much for my little brain. As a result I decided to boycott Twitter for a while and purely focus on sharing my thoughts here as I've been planning to do this more often, just as I explained this last time. So, without going into a deep discussion why I'm not making a video instead of this blog post, here's what is brewing currently in the Star Trek Universe.
Section 31 spinoff
Ok, so let's start with the big one... Mirror Georgiou get's a spinoff. Yeay.. or not? Michelle Yeoh's character became a fan favourite for sure. I do love her as Captain Georgiou, but as the Emperor... ehhh, just does not fit. I really wanted to see her more in Discovery and I was pretty shocked when they killed her off in the first episode, but having her mirror alter-ego roaming around in Section 31 uniform, just doesn't feel right to me. The new show does not have a lot of details yet, just simply that it will focus on her character and on Section 31. Not much to talk about at this point about this, although I do have to say that the idea can be promising if the execution is good. Back in the days the Section 31 was a really devious organisation, and I hope to explore that aspect of the Star Trek Universe, but maybe not as a separate TV show. An episode, or a movie maybe, but a whole series based on a really destructive organisation does not sell me that optimistic vision that Star Trek gave me for a long time.
Star Trek Discovery Season 2 Opener
CBS also released the latest opener for Discovery and surprise, surprise... it's different. The much I like the new look and the different take on the intro with Discovery, I really miss when we had those fantastic and gorgeous opening's for Deep Space Nine and Voyager, and even for Enterprise. Seeing Voyager passing through nebula's or the buzzing surrounding of Deep Space Nine indicated already that we are up for a nice ride in each episode. Not to undermine the production value and the thoughts that they put into the Discovery opening, but it feels like a "touch of history for ya" instead of what the show it is really. It's cool to see all those diagrams, props and the ship flying over the old parchment paper surface, but I miss the realism of it... maybe I just can't see it?!
Kurtzman "Authentically" a Trekkie
I don't mean to be disrespectful, and I really appreciate the guy that he try to correct the errors and faults of what his predecessors did so far with Discovery, but the statement that "authentic Trekkie" is a bit too much for me. Seems like we have to prove ourselves to be a Trekkie from now on? Are we not Trekkie enough if we don't pass a test or something? I should have my blood checked in hope that it's still green... :D
Overall I think the time we live in is fascinating as the one and only Mr Spock would say - yes, I'm thinking about Leonard here. :) We getting a lot of Star Trek after a long hiatus. We have Discovery, the Picard show is happening, Lower Decks is in development, and now we can look forward to a Section 31 spin-off as well. All of this within a few months... not bad CBS. I have to say thank you that you have me temporarily forget about Brexit and Trump, but the too many news happening after each other just feels very overwhelming as well. Sometimes I do feel that is great to disconnect from social media, just having your own thoughts and your own little bubble, even though I'm really excited to make a new video this week in celebration of Discovery Season 2 and also the new episode of The Orville. :) _\\//
So, there was quite a lot of new updates on Star Trek that made a big buzz recently in the online community. These days I have less time to make videos about things, so I'm really glad that my good old trusty website is here and I can contribute to it a bit more. At one point I always imagined that my website and my YouTube channel will walk hand-by-hand. Well, I think after being married, being a bit more mature and older I can see what is more important in life. I still love creating videos and I will continue to do that so, but I finally started to find that beautiful balance I was looking for - and make my money worth that I'm putting into this. :)
So what about Picard?
I know you've been reading and thinking "what the hell is he talking about?" so here we go, let's talk about Old Man Picard. Recently there was a lot of news and update from Alex Kurtzman regarding the show that will bring our favourite Captain back to the small screen. Well, even though that everyone calls the show online #OldManPicard right now, the studio has no name for the show yet. Ever since the big announcement from Sir Patrick Stewart, my good friend Sohail (from the StarfleetBoy podcast) calls the show Old Man Picard that I adore soo much. :) Obviously there's a high chance that they won't call the show like that, but you never know. Although the little details that they revealed about the character makes me feel a bit concerned. So, they will place the show in the future, around 2399, 20 years after Nemesis and a little after the events of the destruction of Romulus. The idea is fantastic as finally the time is moving forward, not to mention that it's good to see that Paramount and CBS finally connects in a sense with events regarding to the Star Trek universe. The one thing that concerns me is that the character of Jean-Luc Picard. They say that he will be radically changed as an individual, which is absolutely fine as 20+ years can have a lot of effect on everyone. I'm not the same person either compare to my 10 year old-self. I'm just afraid that they might do something really savage to the person who we all love. His wisdom to life and what he taught to us over the course of Star Trek The Next Generation is priceless and I hope they will keep his core close in the future as well. One can always hope I guess, but I have a feeling that we gonna see a gritty version of this person, an individual who we know from somewhere but he changed so much until the point where we won't be able to recognise him. _\\//
So here we are at last, the last day of 2018. There's a lot happened in this last year with a great amount of good things, big changes and evidently with some not so great ones too. Generally I'm grateful as 2018 for me personally was a great year. In a "professional" side I've got a new job that allows me to be more creative. The YouTube channel grown quite a lot even though my social presence has been a bit absent here and there, but that mainly comes from the fact that I've had a very busy life behind the scenes. In the beginning of the year I've met a beautiful girl who later on became my wife; we moved to a different city where we both started our new life with a new job. I've done a fantastic Road Trip along the Pacific coast in the US with my dear friend Taylor from Beard VS Geek and from the Stargate Guy; and last but not least I've done some convention where I've met few great people and also interviewed some great actors. So yeah, 2018 was great in many ways. The only negative thing I can think of mainly this Brexit that is currently happening n the UK... but aside that I'm really happy that 2018 end in a very positive way. It's needless to say that I could not have done any of this without my wife, my family, my friends and of course without you my dear follower. :)
Bring it home 2019! :)
In the beginning of every year people tends to set up some goals, some achievements that can be different from the previous years. It's always good to set goals, but I always believed that setting up new habits or changing current life status can be done any time during the year. How fascinating is that the biggest joining wave to the wave happens in the beginning of every year than majority of those folks usually leave when the "fire" is gone from loosing weight. New year happens every year, but habits and goals can be changed or set up every day, am I right? Now in the new year I have only one goal: to continue the work I've been doing ever since 2016. I admit that even though the website gone through a few changes in the last few years I haven't done much to write things here. Now that's been a goal for me ever since August 2018 so I think I just have to get back to it. It is hard sometimes to write when I can grab the camera and talk about the topic I have in mind. YouTube is my primary way of communicating with all of you and even though the busy life I've had I always made sure that one video will come out every week. Now this won't be changed in the new year either. As for the website, the much as I love editing and maintaining it a pretty look won't do a good justice to it, so I have to sit down and write to make my money worth spending on this - having a domain and a service to run this does cost some gold pressed latinum, lol. :) I've been working on some good ideas that I can and I will continue doing and developing in the future and I truly hope that you will enjoy reading them. :) As for the channel the beginning of 2019 will be rather busy with the return of The Orville and Star Trek Discovery, not to mention my ever growing Character Data-file series that will have new entries too. So 2019 will be interesting, exciting and hopefully all good as it can be. :)
Thank you! :)
I would like to finish this off with a special thank you to YOU. Yes, you dear reader/subscriber. :) There's more than 1200 of you following me on YouTube, more than 450 of you in Twitter, almost 300 of you in Instagram and about 200 people in my website in a weekly basis that is super amazing. :) A few years ago when I started this I've never imagined that I'll go this this far. But here we are 2 and a half years later and Trekkerprise surely became a household name in the online Star Trek and The Orville community... thanks to you. :) Happy New Year to all of you! Live long and prosper. _\\//
With the announcement of my first ever online store here's the first Trekkerprise T-Shirt Design Contest as well. I'm super excited to have you involved with the next design that will make it to the store and you will be proud to wear in the future. Being a graphic designer for me is a way to express myself and also to show my passion towards the things I love. With your help we can make something awesome and more unique now.
To make this cool and "trouble-free" I'm looking for original design that inspired by Star Trek, The Orville, Doctor Who or other sci-fi TV series or movies. It's really important that you should not approach me with anything that is under copyright via CBS, Paramount Pictures, BBC, FOX or anyone as we don't want to get in trouble. The work should be original and creative that can have a distinct resemblance to your beloved TV show but not directly copied. The more original the design idea, the best is the chance to win. :)
After the ideas submitted I'll put them together into a video and you'll be able to vote in the comment section below for a certain amount of time. The design idea that gets the more vote will make it to the shop and you'll get a FREE product of your choice along with other goodies. Note that design ideas can be just written instructions, doodles on a paper or even a design created by a design software.
I'm really excited to see what you will come up with. The first 5 design will be up in the website as well and will be there for vote on the Trekkerprise Twitter page for consideration. :) So what do you waiting for? Let's create something cool. :) _\\//
So, CBS just released a teaser poster for Star Trek Discovery Season 2 and however I do love the design and I'm looking forward to the new season more than I actually liked the first one. The poster itself is amazing, I like it's neutrality that no crew members are in it - not that I had any problem with those, just saying. :) So it's neutral with glowing red lines, glowing red dots and an angel look alike icon in the middle. Well, that angel thing looks exactly like the one in the trailer if you remember what we all seen there. There's also 7 red dots in there that they showed in the trailer and also talked about. So my overall feeling is that they simply used the core elements from Season 2 - well at least from the first half or so as far as we aware. :) It's certainly a nice nod to jump-start the new season and give us some direction.
It's still hard to say that new season with the new creatures will reveal the Iconians for the first time in the Star Trek era, but the more we think about them it's the more obvious that they finally got something new that we did not see before, just heard of. Or maybe we all got the whole thing wrong and it's the Borg trying to take over the Alpha Quadrant again because they failed in the Season 2 Enterprise episode "Regeneration." :) Well, I guess, we just have to wait and see. :) I'm curious what do you have in mind with all the Season 2 theories, so let me know in the comments below. Also, if you haven't seen my Season 2 Trailer reaction video, you can find it below or check out my channel for more on Discovery. :) _\\//
So, I've been quiet for a while, but that's mainly because of the crazy life/work balance that I have, plus the recent road trip took a lot of time from me. I had barely had any time creating that much content for the channel - that I really regret - not to mention the website is being neglected as well. Not so good, but obviously this won't last forever. I'm currently working on a bunch of road trip video content that soon will be revealed for everyone on the channel, and I'm planning to add some new articles here too. I do need a little patient from everyone. Life is something that we all have to deal with and mine at the moment is keeping me very busy. I'm working hard on fixing my crazy schedule and have some more time doing the things I love and I committed to. :)
I have a fair amount of video coming from this road trip soon and loads of picture to my social media accounts as well in the next few days that I hope a lot of you will going to enjoy. I still can not thank enough for the support and for the kindness from my dear followers. This means a lot for me. :) So, hold on for a little longer for more content here and on the channel too. :) Till then, keep on Trekking and Live Long and Prosper. :) _\\//
I love a good movie. It does not have to to be sci-fi -- even though that is my main preference :) - but if it has a connection to my childhood, or simply is a great story behind it, I tend to get hyped about it. Recently I've been watching trailers for upcoming movies in 2018 and so far I think this year will be a wicked one when it comes to the big screen. Let's see which movies made me exited this year so far!
Mary Poppins Returns
Wreck It Ralph 2 - Ralph Breaks The Internet
As I mentioned before, looks like 2018 will be a wicked year in the big screen with some classic returns. Are you excited about these movies? Maybe you know something else that will be interesting to watch? Let me know in the comment section below what's in your "must watch" list in 2018 so far. :) _\\//
