Life is tough sometimes and it has been a very interesting few months for me lately. About 4 months ago I released my last video where I said that I'll be going away for a while and will be returning around late 2019. Now many of you who regularly checks my blog and keeps themselves updated with my journey - i really appreciate you people :) - knows that I've moved cross country, started a new job after being without one for a while and also taking on a course or two for developing myself and our future that we live by with my wife.
As of being offline from my channel and getting on with life has opened my eyes a lot recently. I've learned a lot about what matters and what can be dismissed. I've changed a few things around here and there and slowly, gradually I started working on my channel lately. now I promised that things will be better with the new season. They will be I promise as I'm really close now to finalise where I want to take you on board with my little ship called Trekkerprise. The content will be brand new, almost experimental in a way that no Trek channels have done before and I'm super excited to give more details on that when the times comes.
My early prediction that I'll return towards the end of this year has been very optimistic. The truth is that I see my life differently now. Responsibility and priorities have shifted over the last few months and YouTube is not there right now. I'm a bit gutted to say that my channel will not return for a longer period of time this year, possibly moving towards an early 2020 comeback. Now I know you might think that I'm secretly preparing for Picard and other juicy Star Trek shows they will embark on their journey, but the truth is... the direction will be different. ;)
There's plenty of content out there and some if the channels like Ketwolski, Trek on the Tube, Starfleetboy, Kertrats and many more do an amazing jobs already with what they do. I've received a lot of love and appreciation for my videos over the last few years and I still cannot believe how I achieved what I achieved, but it's fair to say that it is good to take a step back and refocusing my thoughts on my life and the promise for my channel that I almost forgot about...
TO BE CONTINUED
I love graphic design, I love creating and also love Star Trek. Now being a designer could mean a lot to many people. Some think they are the standard for others, some just trying, some admires and more of us being unnoticed. Being a designer - for me at least - has been a very interesting journey so far. I've never thought about myself that I'm good... I'm kinda "OKay-ish" in the field. Despite that I love when I can create something that connects me with the show I love and admire soo much.
Teaming up with Sean from Trek on the Tube we have created something very unique that has never been done before... a proper timeline of the Star Trek Universe. We wanted to create a unique and simple chart that explains where the different series takes place and how the different timelines are interacting with each other, now of course these are the basics only, but never the less an easy to understand representation of the Star Trek timelines as they are today at the writing of this article. It may not be perfect for some of you, it may not be accurate for more of you, and who knows... maybe less of you will like it for some strange reason that it will make a good wallpaper. Either way, we are proud to present this little creation of ours for the Star Trek Community. You can use it, save it, print it out and all this or free. No charge, no secret clause or footnote as this is a gift. You don't even have to give us credit, however that would be deeply appreciated. :)
As a gift we only have one favour to ask if you use it and it does not cost anything... keep it as it is. Just as with any gift, we put hours of work to this to make it for you and we would both appreciate if it would be used for the intended purpose. This is made by Star Trek fans for Star Trek fans and we only hope that it will help you along the years to understand how the Timelines work in our favourite show. Enjoy. _\\//
Today I did something I was thinking about a lot recently: I've deleted my Instagram account. I know a few of you who followed me there and also reads this blog occasionally might think that something is wrong, or maybe you will get said over the fact that I've decided to end that part of my online/social presence. Well, there's a reason behind this, just like behind everything, so here it comes.
Being on a hiatus helps me a lot to re-evaluate my presence on social media and also helps me decide what is important in life. Since we moved from the south of England to Scotland with my wife my life has changed and I started thinking about things that really matters. I certainly know that YouTube is a platform that I love and I can freely create, share my view and opinion about things and generally connect with a wider audience. When I started Instagram I was simply uploading some meaningful pictures that went into travel/geek photos and other Star Trek related pictures that I loved sharing back then. Than my attention and time went into creating other things in life and my interest slowly dried out towards that platform. I'm not saying that it was bad to have one, but lately I certainly felt like I'm carrying a burden with me. Whenever I stumbled upon my phone and seen the app icon I kept thinking "Ohh, I have not been posting for a while..." and the pressure just made me look back at those pictures and then an hour later just realised that I wasted time and I did not even get a picture out. Was worth it right? :)
Over the last few months I was failing to upload anything or following up with things and generally kept forgetting about the app as well. The surprising thing what happened to me that I realised that not knowing much about what happens there at all did not even bothered me any more which was a very interesting feeling to realise. So after thinking about the "purpose" of my account, I arrived to the conclusion that I do not have the need to have that account any more. I went through a few changes in my life recently that helped me realise the truly important things in life and also my purpose as a content creator on YouTube. Preparing for Season 4 of Trekkerprise is a very exciting part of my life right now that I have big plans for already and I can't wait to share more details with you all. Part of developing a better channel comes with "letting go" something that I was not planning to continue any more.
Deleting the account surely does not mean that I will not share pictures occasionally, of course that is not going to change. The platform however will be in my web-blog where I will post a picture with my thoughts in the future. I believe that at the end of the day I'm glad that I did this. I feel happy that I don't have this burden any more that creates frustration for me every time I get a glance on my phone and I now can focus on more about the meaningful part of my social media presence. I'm happy that I was part of Instagram, I'm grateful for all my followers there and I have had good time interacting with people. Thank you Instagram and Bon Voyage. _\\//
