Ok, well, technically this is not midnight yet, but hey... maybe it is for someone. :) Either way I suppose I'm just still excited about what we seen and heard about Star Trek Picard from SDCC2019. as I've mentioned briefly yesterday in my post things are getting really interesting with the show and just as 90% of the fans I'm super hyped ever since we seen the first real length trailer. It's still makes my heart beeping faster every time I picture Jeri Ryan and Brent Spiner along the great Patrick Stewart. It's literally a dream come true with this crossover for the new show and I hope that we will see more people coming in.
The one thing that kind of bothers me in a sense that Picard got too big, and it feels like that Discovery, Short Treks and Lower Decks kinda got into its shadow a little bit. We seen the Short Treks trailer and the awesome pictures of the newest Animated Series, but somehow I don't feel them as much as I see Picard and I'm not the only one. Many YouTuber who I follow and know more focused on Picard than anything else. Eating new born Tribbles - which looks quite eek to me - and having Pike, Spock and Number One coming back for the series somehow got less excitement. While I totally understand the sentiment from my side I still don't really understand what happened? Did I get what I was looking for with this trailer for the new show and the rest is just not relevant any more? Does everyone feels this way?
I'm sure it's just temporary and we will have the excitement coming, up and running soon for everything that the Star Trek Universe has to offer. What do you think? Is that possible that we will blindly follow Picard where ever he will go? Let me know in the comment section below. _\\//
I wish I could made a video today, but being in a hiatus that gives us time to relocate from one country to another it has it's downside. Firstly my "studio" is super empty now and I've managed to break my tripod today while I was boxing things up... and speaking of breaking things, the freshly released teaser trailer for Star Trek Picard has been landed today and I just can't sleep after watching it about 5 times already. :) So, might as well take some advantage of my insomnia and write down my initial thoughts.
I'm honestly crying of joy right now as this trailer just felt right. The tone of the show felt right and gosh, how many surprises!!! Borg cube?, Brent Spiner as Data@ Jerry Ryan as Seven? Riker and Troi is coming too along with Hugh?? Picard wearing his old badge? He's even walking down at Vasquez Rocks - that could be used again as Mintaka from that TNG episode? Soo many question, but soo many good references and of course seeing him giving the order "Engage!" after all these years was just something. He still has that certain gravitas that he had in around Nemesis.
I try not to speculate too much here, but seems like Data - or as a matter of fact B4 - might be a hologram, or he is really the assembled version of the B4 unit? That last conversation just felt like he really misses space and his old crew. I have a feeling that he might has the same issue that James Kirk had in the Motion Picture: he is just not ready to settle down? He is just not ready to sit down and rest? he does not want the game to end! Does that mean that he wants to keep exploring or continuing that something that he was about to begin? Soo many questions.
The new characters looked cool and friendly, I don't really have much to say about them as we have no idea yet who they are - apart from their name and origin. Seeing Jerry Ryan though is just awesome, something that I have not seen coming at all. Let's be honest, we been all expecting TNG cast members to pop-up here and there during the show, but Seven from Voyager??? That is crazy awesome!!! :) I really wonder how her character developed ever since "Endgame."
I know there's still a lot to unpack there. but that being said I'll be back with more updates on what is happening right now. Well, not really reporting any new things as that comes out way before that I have a chance to sit down front of the PC to write my thoughts down. So I will be back with some more analysis about this new trailer. I might even do a quick podcast style video on it, but will see. :) What do you think about the Picard trailer?
