What a pitty! :( No more After Trek... Well, don't feel sorry, there's gonna be a "facebook live feed" instead. Phew, what a relief. :) Ok, let's be serious for s minute here, I've never been a big fan of After Trek. I do like extra content when it comes to Star Trek. I can watch documentaries all over the place and for days about our favourite show, but After Trek always felt like an excuse to me. They knew that they will have to apologise and explain why things happened or what is that they want to do with it here and there... now that is not coming back I'm not sad at all. Although I hope that the facebook live feed will be available for worldwide audiences to enjoy, _\\//

You know how you open you your computer, you check your internet browser, gmail and YouTube... and that recommendations are coming in your feed which video to watch? Now when I've seen this I was like "this is nor real." The classic soundtrack, the barn, proton pack light effects and the the good old rusty Ecto-1? What is happening? :D Well, the beauty of this quick 50 second video that is indeed real, Ghostbusters are happening in 2020 for one more time. :) Apparently the son of Ivan Reitman, Jason is working on a super secret and full of surprises big new Ghostbusters movie that will catch up on the original movies from the 80's. Now that's a super amazing thing to be excited about. :) I know that is technically a project that is really in a development phase right now, but the news on it's own it's fantastic. :) I cannot wait to get to know more about this new Ghostbusters instalment to the original franchise. So far as I mentioned we nothing about the story, but as it turned out Ernie Hudson who played Zeddmore confirmed that all previous actor will return to this movie which is a great guarantee that we gonna see some seriously good production, not to mention that a separate new Animated movie will be released a little after the live-action movie aired, which is also awesome. :) What do you think about this awesome news? I'm eager to find out your take on this short trailer. :) _\\//
After my horrible experience with Twitter last time I decided not to make further movements with that platform for a while. Getting all that spoilers, news and conversation is just very overwhelming. When the first season of Star Trek Discovery aired I was excited, but towards the premier a lot of new things been announced. As part of the community I do feel some responsibility to react and share my opinion, start a conversation between people, but sometimes it's just too much for my little brain. As a result I decided to boycott Twitter for a while and purely focus on sharing my thoughts here as I've been planning to do this more often, just as I explained this last time. So, without going into a deep discussion why I'm not making a video instead of this blog post, here's what is brewing currently in the Star Trek Universe.
Section 31 spinoff
Ok, so let's start with the big one... Mirror Georgiou get's a spinoff. Yeay.. or not? Michelle Yeoh's character became a fan favourite for sure. I do love her as Captain Georgiou, but as the Emperor... ehhh, just does not fit. I really wanted to see her more in Discovery and I was pretty shocked when they killed her off in the first episode, but having her mirror alter-ego roaming around in Section 31 uniform, just doesn't feel right to me. The new show does not have a lot of details yet, just simply that it will focus on her character and on Section 31. Not much to talk about at this point about this, although I do have to say that the idea can be promising if the execution is good. Back in the days the Section 31 was a really devious organisation, and I hope to explore that aspect of the Star Trek Universe, but maybe not as a separate TV show. An episode, or a movie maybe, but a whole series based on a really destructive organisation does not sell me that optimistic vision that Star Trek gave me for a long time.
Star Trek Discovery Season 2 Opener
CBS also released the latest opener for Discovery and surprise, surprise... it's different. The much I like the new look and the different take on the intro with Discovery, I really miss when we had those fantastic and gorgeous opening's for Deep Space Nine and Voyager, and even for Enterprise. Seeing Voyager passing through nebula's or the buzzing surrounding of Deep Space Nine indicated already that we are up for a nice ride in each episode. Not to undermine the production value and the thoughts that they put into the Discovery opening, but it feels like a "touch of history for ya" instead of what the show it is really. It's cool to see all those diagrams, props and the ship flying over the old parchment paper surface, but I miss the realism of it... maybe I just can't see it?!
Kurtzman "Authentically" a Trekkie
I don't mean to be disrespectful, and I really appreciate the guy that he try to correct the errors and faults of what his predecessors did so far with Discovery, but the statement that "authentic Trekkie" is a bit too much for me. Seems like we have to prove ourselves to be a Trekkie from now on? Are we not Trekkie enough if we don't pass a test or something? I should have my blood checked in hope that it's still green... :D
Overall I think the time we live in is fascinating as the one and only Mr Spock would say - yes, I'm thinking about Leonard here. :) We getting a lot of Star Trek after a long hiatus. We have Discovery, the Picard show is happening, Lower Decks is in development, and now we can look forward to a Section 31 spin-off as well. All of this within a few months... not bad CBS. I have to say thank you that you have me temporarily forget about Brexit and Trump, but the too many news happening after each other just feels very overwhelming as well. Sometimes I do feel that is great to disconnect from social media, just having your own thoughts and your own little bubble, even though I'm really excited to make a new video this week in celebration of Discovery Season 2 and also the new episode of The Orville. :) _\\//
So, there was quite a lot of new updates on Star Trek that made a big buzz recently in the online community. These days I have less time to make videos about things, so I'm really glad that my good old trusty website is here and I can contribute to it a bit more. At one point I always imagined that my website and my YouTube channel will walk hand-by-hand. Well, I think after being married, being a bit more mature and older I can see what is more important in life. I still love creating videos and I will continue to do that so, but I finally started to find that beautiful balance I was looking for - and make my money worth that I'm putting into this. :)
So what about Picard?
I know you've been reading and thinking "what the hell is he talking about?" so here we go, let's talk about Old Man Picard. Recently there was a lot of news and update from Alex Kurtzman regarding the show that will bring our favourite Captain back to the small screen. Well, even though that everyone calls the show online #OldManPicard right now, the studio has no name for the show yet. Ever since the big announcement from Sir Patrick Stewart, my good friend Sohail (from the StarfleetBoy podcast) calls the show Old Man Picard that I adore soo much. :) Obviously there's a high chance that they won't call the show like that, but you never know. Although the little details that they revealed about the character makes me feel a bit concerned. So, they will place the show in the future, around 2399, 20 years after Nemesis and a little after the events of the destruction of Romulus. The idea is fantastic as finally the time is moving forward, not to mention that it's good to see that Paramount and CBS finally connects in a sense with events regarding to the Star Trek universe. The one thing that concerns me is that the character of Jean-Luc Picard. They say that he will be radically changed as an individual, which is absolutely fine as 20+ years can have a lot of effect on everyone. I'm not the same person either compare to my 10 year old-self. I'm just afraid that they might do something really savage to the person who we all love. His wisdom to life and what he taught to us over the course of Star Trek The Next Generation is priceless and I hope they will keep his core close in the future as well. One can always hope I guess, but I have a feeling that we gonna see a gritty version of this person, an individual who we know from somewhere but he changed so much until the point where we won't be able to recognise him. _\\//
