If you follow my blog, you sort of know me as much as I do myself. I stated at the very beginning of this journey, my reason to do this blog is simply to share my passion about - mainly - Star Trek, Doctor Who and other sci-fi and geeky stuff. Today I'm going to talk about one of the movie franchise that I do LOVE just as much as I love Trek. That is Ghostbusters. I remember watching the movie back then when I was younger and I fell in love with it. The fact as you have cool guys chasing ghosts with a cool car just had my mind blown away that time. :) Here's a shocking secret from my little life: I was probably a Ghostbusters fan before even being a Trekkie. I know, what are the odds? :D
I really love the franchise. I was watching Real Ghostbuster every weekend on the telly, and the reruns of the original movies as well. Just loved that banter between the characters and that super cool friendship that they had there. Growing up alone, looking for friends with the same sort of interest has never been really easy. Always being an outsider, the black sheep myself made me live in those worlds.

Somehow, when you are not really able to make friends in real life, you obviously looking for answers. Seeing movies back than like Ghostbusters, Men In Black, and Star Trek of course, always had the implication to want to be there and have those people as friends. All I wanted to do just to be like them and hang out with those people, be part of the gang! :) After all those years... I still want to do the same sometimes. :) The best thing about Ghostbusters as you can still watch it this day and it will make you feel awesomely good inside. :)

Who Are The Ghostheads?

Ghostheads in a fan film about Ghostbusters fans acrooss the globe. I have to admit, while I'm big Trekkie and I'm aware there's Trek fan films about fans out there, I never thought I will come across with a Ghostbusters Fan film about real fans. This movie is just an amazing representation of the people who love this movie and the world behind it. The film itself gets an inside look of the life of everyday people and how this show made an impact on them. I truly never expected this much emotion and pride coming from GBs fans. There's more than 200 fan clubs around the US only as it turned out and that is a massive amount of Ghostheads - that's the same as Trekkie basically, but with Proton Guns and Ecto 1. :) The movie focuses on a few main and super big fan, has interviews with the creators of the show and also with actors from the movies. They even touched the new movie as well, that I still can't come along with... just something not right with it...

While I was watching the film I had quite a few emotional state. Listening to the stories of the fans, how much the movies and the series means to them, the personal attachments and the experiences is just something extraordinary. I can clearly see a similarity between Star Trek as it affected many lives. Some people recovered from being an alcoholic, it helped others to overcome social anxiety, or dealing with hard emotions... some of the story was quite touching and I did feel the personal connection with everyone.

Living The Dream

Proton guns, Ecto 1, and of course the friendship. This 3 things describes this franchise for me the most. The proton guns are one of the most awesome technology ever invented for hunting paranormal beings. That old, sexy Cadillac just something that will turns your head if you see that in the roads, but at the end you really have to admire the friendship between these people. They have their problems and their struggles, but they are fighting over something that helps other people. A fantastic friendship between the main characters, and that unbelievably great atmosphere behind the show that makes Ghsotbusters very much lovable.

I never really had any problems to use my imagination - and my money - to have those things closer to me as they were before. Sadly I don't have any proton gun, the suit, or a Stay Puft marshmallow figurine in my collection, but I do own a 1:18 scale Hot Wheels Elite Ecto 1 that I'm really proud of. :) She's a real jewel and every time I look at her - pictured above - made me feel extremely good inside. :) Sometimes people can put you in a box as geek, nerd or just weird. I never been ashamed about what I love and why I have the passion towards these things. I love them and I think in a way they help me maintain that kid in me... and that worth everything. :)

If you haven't seen Ghostheads yet, please do check the movie out. It's a must watch for fans and even non fans. :) _\\//
