The day has finally arrived, the speculations and rumours are finally over, Pike, Spock and Number 1 is BACK and we could not be happier. I'm certainly happy about this news and could not help thinking about the stories, the theme of the show and that how familiar faces we will see in the future in this very new adventure of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds
The title could not be better in my opinion and it is a bit of a reminiscent of the idea of that famous monologue we kept hearing in the past 50+ years over and over again. And ironically this announcement arrive in a strange new world we live in right now so the allegory could not be more spot on.

I am very excited right now. I was excited when they announced Discovery, Picard and now this makes me very happy that Star Trek is getting back to it's roots with this new adventure. I loved Anson Mount as captain Pike. He portrayed the classic character with such a grace and gravitas we been missing since the franchise revived itself. I admit, he was one of the highlight of Discovery and I believe his presence and of course his crew mates made the show light-years better than it could have been - no offence though.
Hopes and Fears
I really hope that this new show will be episodic and somewhat closer to the core of what Star Trek is, being out there, exploring new worlds and new civilisations, to boldly go... you know the rest. ;) I really hope that we gonna see characters revived from the original series just as Arex maybe, or an introduction to the young Captain Kirk, seeing Bones, but deep down I hope that we get to see more of those characters we seen at pilot episode, The Cage.
I would not be true to myself if I would not have fears though. Knowing the casting I have no fear at all, the set looks amazing already, they really just have to start writing stories and start shooting - once this ugly pandemic has gone of course. My only fears at this point that the writers will "try too hard" to get this show done and properly ready for us. Usually that's where a lot of good idea fails, when they try too hard. Off course having a perfect show is not possible, it does not exist and frankly I don't think it will ever be.
After all what can I say? I'm soo freakin' excited! Seeing what we seen so far from these people, seeing what the show could look like based on Discovery I have no fear that this project will be super successful and to be all fair all down to us, Trekkies. This show is really a creation of LOVE towards the idea that we fans have towards Star Trek. I salute everyone who ever raised the question, suggestion for a Pike show in any form and quantity... without ALL OF US this could not have been possible.
