Ever since I declared a hiatus on my YouTube channel I have been busy with a heavy work-load, family matters and personal development. Without going into too much details, let me just say that I kept myself busy for the best and sometimes for the most unexpected and sad ways. That being sad, I am missing the smell of freshly published videos and spending more time watching or thinking of the wonders, wit and wisdoms of Star Trek. So, in the notion of the new month I thought it's time to give a glimpse of my plans for 2021 and give you some ideas what is happening with Trekkerprise and with myself in these days and share a few upcoming projects I'm working on.
Will There Be Videos?
The short answer is, yes. I have been fortunate enough to reconnect with a few things from home thanks to my family and their effort to make things possible for me. At the creation of this article I am still waiting, but there are several boxes on their way to the Trekkerprise HQ with some of my precious collection pieces that I will be making videos about. These pieces were stored back home for the past 7 - 8 years and now I will be able to reconnect with them one more time. I say "one more time" as these pieces will be up for sale and I don't talk about small notebook with pictures, no. There are some heavy and very rare pieces I have in my collection that I will be saying goodbye... there will be dedicated videos for each piece and also the notion behind letting them go. Aside this "tribute series" I will have a few topical videos coming as well, but that is all in the planning status now.
The upcoming videos will be part of a limited series. I do not wish to come back in full-time creating videos as I have a lot of things that I need to focus on in 2021. There's no official "release date" yet for these videos, but there will be an announcement in this blog in the near future.
What About The Blog?
Well, even for my best efforts I was not able to focus more on writing articles and that is something I feel ashamed of. I know there's only a handful of people keeping in touch with me over here and also reads my thoughts, but I have pledged that I will be creating more and more written articles that I have frankly not been able to fulfil. That being said I have a few ideas for upcoming articles and I will be sharing those as well, once the time comes.
Part of my dilemma as well that the website is not running in the most productive platform when it comes to productivity. Trekkerprise.com is running on a Weebly platform since 2016. The platform is really easy to use, it comes with a great site editor, but it's no longer suited for the 2021 standards. I am struggling to add more functionality and automation that Weebly is lacking off. Commenting to blog comments - just to mention one issue amongst others - is a tragedy with this site as I cannot reply as the owner. I have to reply as a guest that I am also getting a notification about and I am not even sure if the person I reply get my response. That is extremely awkward. The site also cost me money and I do need to think about how to go further with the existence of it. I am currently looking for different platforms to use and migrate the site which I am hoping to sort out in a few months.
Until all this happens I will do my best to keep the once a week articles coming with episodic reviews and other ideas I have had in mind. Also feel free to leave a comment as that helps me a lot and keep the conversation going. The idea behind this blog is really that I share my thoughts and we keep expanding on that... well, I need that new web platform to be able to do that, but until than I do my best for reaching back. :)
Will I Come Back To Twitter?
Short answer, no. I have left Twitter in the beginning of January 2021 and still believe that it has been the greatest decision for my mental well being. I have no regret to take that step and I would do it again without a doubt. It comes without saying that my social circle shrunk down dramatically ever since, but I guess that all comes with not being all over the place as much any more. Aside all that I have no intention of coming back to Twitter and my life is happier without the platform. Sure I miss some people, but as someone famous said it once "if something is important to you, you'll make the time."
So that is it so far with Trekkeprise. As said many times here I am keeping busy with other projects, self development and family, but there are videos in the pipeline for this year with more changes to the site and more frequent articles. I also do have an idea for a new Star Trek themed podcast that I will be releasing probably after the limited videos are finished.
As always, for the very few of you whom keeping up with this website and with my journey, thank you ever soo much for taking the time and reading through this post. It is much appreciated. Until next time, Live Long and Prosper. _\\//
