What a beautiful coincidence. :) My original plan was to publish an article today, but funny enough, today is happened to be the 15th Anniversary of the last Star Trek series, Enterprise. I'm one of the very few people who consider themselves the fan of the show. Well, to be honest with you, I truly love all of the Star Trek series, and the movies. It's really hard to pick even one as a favourite. So, sometimes I do have a problem when people ask me, "Who is your favourite Captain?". I just can't really answer to that question. The same situation applies to the 5 television series. Personally, I believe every one of them has it's own purpose, and place in the Star Trek universe... Enterprise included. :)
I do love the series. :) It shows us an era, where all the technical advantages from the 24th century, or even from the 23rd century is not available. Something incredibly charming comes along with this series. I still can't forget the face of Travis in the first episode when he said: "Warp 4.5!" :) A little moment, but it made me realize what's the message of the show. Or the moment when Captain Archer made his speech in the end of the episode Terra Prime:
"...no matter how far we travel, or how fast we get there, the most profound discoveries are not necessarily beyond that next star. They're within us, woven into the threads that bind us, all of us, to each other. A final frontier begins in this hall. Let's explore it together."
The ship true to her name, the crew is a well picked/multicultural one, and the adventures are just soo... human. :) The show had some really good potentials, and I loved how it reflected on the current situations, also bringing back some of the core elements of the Original Series. Sometimes it was funny, sometimes dark, but still a loveable series. I truly hope there's a solid Trekkie group who still think the same way about Enterprise as I do. It might had some issues, which we could rip apart and examine, but which series doesn't? For me it was still a wonderful world, a wonderful place to excape from the chaotic mess of the every day life... I truly wish it could have stayed longer in TV. Sadly the writer strikes and most of the statistic swere against the show, which ended in a very fast paced finale. :(
With this little tribute I just would like to wish a Happy 15th Birthday to the show, the actors, and the creators. They gave us a series which answered old question, gave us new questions, and overall made us feel hopeful again. :)
Happy Birthday Enterprise! :) LLAP _\\//
