After 25 years of the last episode of Star Trek The Next Generation, All Good Things aired and we seen the last adventure of the crew of the Enterprise on TV. The movies of course gave us many more adventures and sweet little moments, but the show itself, an era ended. Now CBS released the first teaser trailer for the new chapter of one of Starfleet best known captain... ehhm, now Admiral Picard. :)
So, the video footage itself is no more than a minute long and it gives us fantastic and bright images about a vineyard, Picard walking down the lane, a box of Chateou Picard, and finally the man himself while a voice over goes as it follows:
“Fifteen years ago today, you lead us out of the darkness. You commanded the greatest rescue armada in history — then the unimaginable. What did that cost you? Your faith? Your faith in us? Your faith in yourself? Tell us: why did you leave Starfleet, Admiral?”
We get to know a few things from this little speech, that something big happened that is possibly happened after the destruction of Romulus and that might involved Picard. I wonder if we ever going to see that in the series though. He also became an Admiral which is something that apparently he did not want after he met Kirk and he told him "never do anything that can take you away from that chair" but I suppose things can change.
The voice over indicates that he is no longer in Starfleet and that certainly made me think, when did he leave? Maybe after that dark battle he could not take it any more? We all remember when he was transferred into Locutus he did have a little change in heart and he almost gave up Starfleet. Maybe this time his loss was far greater that he was able to handle? Maybe he did realise something that lead to that moment when he lost his faith and decided to quit Starfleet?
There's certainly a lot of question that I'm really intrigued to find out more about once we going to see this new series. Of course my hopes are high just as yours, and I have a feeling that we won't be disappointed with this series. I know we have to wait and see, but this show could not come fast enough.
I know most of you who read this and follows me on various social media platforms expect me to do a video about this footage and talk about what we seen, but to be fair there's already a lot of very good video out there that I do not want to repeat myself. I personally would recommend to check out my dear friend Trek on the Tube's fantastic breakdown of the teaser trailer that you can watch below or in his channel that I would highly recommend to check out.
Alright, that's it from me for now. I'm very excited about Star Trek: Picard, even more than about Star Trek: Discovery. I'm eager to find out what do you think about the show and about this teaser that they released. Please let me know your thoughts on the comment section below and until next time Live long and prosper. _\\//
After all those months of thinking and waiting for CBS to announce a title for the upcoming Picard show, we finally got one last night. The show is officially called "Star Trek: Picard" which is quite nice, straight to the point that finally puts down the rumours that the show will called Destiny. Not that I would have been just as happy with that too. :) I imagine that this could easily not be the final title style for the show just as it happened for Discovery. A lot of people already pointed out the "Star Trek" logotype that is the TOS style. This is perfectly OK considering that CBS going towards a universal brand image for all Star Trek, so having that above PICARD is just fitting. :)
There was also a leak photo online about the series that we been able to see how he will look like in the new series and also a filming photo that I was excited about. Seeing Patrick Stewart and all of those colourful, great costumes is just what a fan could wish for. Obviously the still images have no indication about the series itself, but it certainly made a big buzz in the online community. I'm more than happy to have this show coming up this year to our screen even though there's been news about the streaming services that made some of us had our eyebrow raised. One would wonder, when we will get a single, universally accessible platform to watch everything. Frankly, living in the UK has its disadvantages already as CBS geo-blocks content on twitter and we have to wait days to get what everyone is talking about in North America. No offence but more people would pay for a service if there would not be a difference between the regions.
Above all this, I'm more than happy that things are going well for Star Trek and this show can not come fast enough. I would love to know what do you think about the first pictures and what are your hopes for this series. Please let me know in the comment section below and I'm looking forward to have a chat about it. Also make sure that you check back often to read more of my upcoming thoughts. Until then, Live Long and Prosper. _\\//
