So, yesterday I watched the movie... and I wanted to share a bit more about what was my problem with the movie. So first of all I know usually on Mondays the cinema is not as full as in a weekends, but as yesterday was on of the earliest day for the movie we barely had a few people in the room. I think around 20 people been there with me. In terms of ticket sale I guess this movie wasn't really a good hit. Well, in London I didn't see any kind of advertisement for this movie as the previous negative reaction of it... now I know what went wrong.
In ealier interview they talked about a new origin story, why they are all females and how the group gathered together... well I was "ok" with that side. It's a reboot and they tried to to a new movie with the mentality of the people from 2016! Well, they've done it and it was just stupid enough for the poeple of 2016. In the late 80's when the first Ghostbuster movie came out it was clever, funny, scientific and it WORKED! It's still one of the best of all times. An epic movie with good story and good style.
The characters were also "ok". Don't get me wrong I had no problem with the female cast. I think they worked together really well... but they just weren't a team what I was expecting. The idea was "girls can be hero too!" I agree as there were may female hero through the movie/tv history like Wonder Women, Charlie's Angels, Captain Janeway or Rey from Star Wars 7... just to mention a few. They are heros and they are all female. So there's nothing wrong with the female lead. The original movie was more science fiction and comedy, this was only comedy... the worst part although as I didn't laugh at all. I'm sorry to say that but I just didn't enjoy the the dialogs that much. The character of Yates was quie annoying. No offence on Melissa as she did what the director wanted to her to do, but she was totaly annoying. Holtzman was a weirdo... I can't really see how she supposed to be the funniest character in the movie not to mention clever as she was the "techie one" - I didn't buy a single word from her. Erin was too girly although she claimed herself a serious scientist, the most important part of her role to get together with that dumb Kevin who played by Thor himself. Ohh yes, the only positive lady who I was soo surprised is Leslie Jones's Patty! She was funny and she totally got her role right. :) There we go at least one thing what I liked. ;)
The original place, the Hook & Ladder also made it's debut in the movie and I was glad hey didn't get the building at the beginning... just wouldn't be right! They've got the building at the end tho as they had to earn it... but that certainly had nothing to do with it.
