Well, here we come... this is something what I was thinking a long time ago and now I sort of got to the point when I can safely share my thoughts about the topic. Smartphone VS Dumbphone. This article is a bit more complex and even a bit controversial as I had both sort of device and at the end of this you will see what I use as a daily driver. I know there's tons of people who already shared their opinion about this issue and I thought why should I skip this chance? :)
They call it progress....
I think no one really can argue with the fact as smartphones has their place to the modern society. Social media became very popular, everyone uses facebook, twitter, instagram, youtube, flickr and the list goes on... so basically everyone uses the smartphone for staying connected and tuned with others. Post pictures and check status on the go, make connections and spend countless of hours hunting Pokemons and watching cat videos. It's a so called "social atomic bomb" what hit us, humans with these devices. I see, now you reading this and you're thinking "This guy doesn't like technology!" That's not true, I do like technology, and I have a few things around my house, but the with the smart technology I'm still not 100% convinced...
Smartphones are good...
...but what's the downside?
Well, I guess I sounded a little bit sarcastic at the end, but to be honest there's one (actually more) seriously dangerous feature of using a smartphone: it's highly addictive. You checking your emails in every second, checking your status on facebook, listening for notifications and chatting with people who actually close to you. When I say close, I mean the distance. :) I guess Pokemon GO is great and I do admire those people who actually can find joy walking around the street with their head in their phone and chasing those virtual creatures. A few days ago I was in the shop and if I don't see I never believe: a woman was playing with the game, inside the shop!? I kept wondering why do we even go to the shop? Don't we have other things to do? Well I guess we could find other stuffs to deal with like reading or watching a movie... but that't not as fun any more I guess. I was in a cinema with a few friends a few weeks ago and while my phone was switched off and I was focusing on the movie one of my friend kept checking his smartphone in the dark... well, he wasn't alone with this. Actually I was the only one who was really watching. :) I guess if I would have to summarize this I could end up with the same conclusion: the weapon of mass disruption!
So I'm against smartphones then?
By now I guess you can figure the phone I use it's not a smartphone. Well... at least not any more. Maybe because I'm old and I remember the times when monochrome display were the only available option with a phone and you had to type a long code to get a personalized ringtone... good old Siemens C45! :) I was using a feature phone for a long time and I remember when the first Samsung Galaxy Ace came out everyone was so excited about, not to mention the iPhone a little earlier. I was excited too. But hence of money and as I was working with phones as a sales consultant for a phone company I had too many choices and I simply didn't want to spend soo much money. Off course smartphones are way cheaper now and about 2 years ago I've got my first smartphone which was a Nokia N8. Well that wasn't really a smart phone but I really loved it. I didn't use it for so much, just taking picture. Coming from a 2 megapixel phone this was a wicked option with it's 8mpx. ;) But then I wanted to use some other stuffs like whatsapp and that wasn't available for symbian, so I switched to an iPhone 3GS what I had for 3 months. Well it was ok, but it was't really the phone what i was looking for, so I changed to a Nokia Lumia 520. Now that phone was a huge step forward for me. I can hear a lot of people saying already "ehh, windows phone...", but I really loved the system and if I would have to choose I would go for that. After a year of using that phone the Windows 10 update was available, but sadly it killed my phone. Don't ask me what happened, I don't understand either, I'm one of the unlucky dudes. :)
Ok, so what phone do I have?
My final thoughts
