I have to admit, it's been a while. I was quite busy as life took over my creative writing. I always have some ideas, but the lack of time makes it a bit difficult for me to be present everywhere. Although I've been reading a lot and also searching for small bit and pieces for the new Star Trek show, Discovery... and i did find something that worth have a small look about it: the new uniform!
Since the creative process started with the series, there's been rumors that told us we will have a reimagined world behind this series. It's a bit too much I think as we are talking about a time period before Kirk and Spock... 10 years before to be exact. If I'm not mistaken The Cage was somewhat that era... so in theory the uniforms should be the same that we saw in the pilot, right? Well, according to a recent tweet from Bryan Fuller the new uniforms will look like this:
Something Completely Different? Hmmm....
Technically it isn't. It's the Cage uniform combination. The stripe in the sleeve is something that they had on the uniform before. The collar was the same too. Although the "coat-ish" feel of this concept art comes from the Cage landing party coat. So basically it's a combination of the two piece. I specially like the black variant with the gold logo on the concept. :)
So I believe the "completely different" is just a very pleasant coincidence that came from the pilot episode, a combination of two things. Although if Discovery takes place in basically in that era in the Prime-Timeline... wouldn't it be clever to keep the cage version of the uniform?
Do you agree or disagree? Do you have an opinion about this "new" design? Let me know in the comment section below. :) LLAP _\\//
